Estrella
Estrella is now part of our Donkey Assisted Therapy for Children with Special Needs program.
She enjoys visiting Special Needs schools and the interaction with the children. She used to be kept as a pet by a couple in Granada. Being in a very good condition and such a gentle donkey, we considered her ideal for this activity. This work is very rewarding both for Estrella and all the children who enjoy her company.
Simply the Best
Estrella is not just good with children... we can say she is the best! It doesn’t cease to amaze us how she doesn’t want much interaction with adults, and yet, she can be with children for hours on end! If any staff try to stroke her, she will instantly turn around and go and yet, if it its a child that does, she becomes her new best friend... No wonder she is such an important part of our Donkey Assisted Riding Therapy Programme for Children with Special Needs!

Twinkle, twinkle...
After her big success on Andalucian television, Estrella has been offered several parts around the area to star on several Christmas pageants, but the latest one, has made her lose her temper. Not only they wanted her to star in it… but to be the Christmas Star itself! This, she says, is outrageous. Apparently they didn’t want to cast her as the donkey because her pregnant-like belly would steal the show from Mary. Yet, she adds, they want to hang me by a thread and dress in a silly sparkly costume… Unbelievable!

Estrella is proud of her shape!
Think of a soft, brown little donkey in the shape of a lentil... and you have Estrella! To avoid further gossiping and endless questioning, this beautiful Riding Therapy donkey has decided to issue a press release to deny rumours that she is in foal: “No, I’m not pregnant” says donkey Estrella “I live in a paddock with another female, so it would be miraculous if I were! It’s just my shape that misleads people to think I am. I am getting tired of people judging me for the size of my belly. I am proud of my shape, it’s part of who I am. Besides, I’m a donkey, not a stick insect!
