León
León belongs to a breed of miniature donkeys who were also rescued from Naples Zoo.
León shares his paddock with a group of six other miniature donkeys. You can often see him playfully running along with them. His cute looks and his definitely boisterous and mischievous attitude have made him a favourite among staff and visitors alike.
The illusionist
León latest stunt is learning some magic tricks to impress the ladies...but he’s not impressing our grooms! He’s a master of vanishing tricks. Any accomplished magician would like to take lessons from this Houdini of a donkey! He can make tools and wellies go missing without a trace in no time flat! His biggest trick so far has been the great vanishing of a wheelbarrow! And the best thing of it all... if you look for him in the scene of crime, León is never there...
Impersonating Rudolph
For once, our mischivieous sardinian joker is up to some good; well, sort of. Being a neighbours of Romero, he has heard about his impersonating Santa plan, and he doesn’t want to be left behind in the scheme. He is now trying to convince his paddock friends to dress up as reindeers and carry the sleigh. This, he says, would make Romero overjoyed and give the babies a Christmas night they’ll never forget. So far a few rakes have gone missing and also the red ball from the riding therapy equipment… We wonder who’s going to be playing Rudolph…
León is an avid spectator!
With the coming of spring and good weather, Outdoor Sports season is on at Paddock 7. The minis enjoy popular sports such as Wellie Catch, Hoofball or Volley-rope. León, our very own mini heartthrob, has a different way of enjoying this. Rather than joining in the fray, León prefers to take a step back and watch while enjoying a bit of hay in the company of his female friends, María and Este. León is an avid spectator, cheering and braying as his colleagues compete just for the fun of it.
