A murder like this should not go unpunished

El Refugio del Burrito will prosecute those found guilty of an animal cruelty case in Torreorgaz and will make pressure so Animal Prtotection Laws are enforced in Extremadura. After the cruelty committed against a donkey in Torreorgaz, a town in Extremadura, Spain, the Spanish registered charity El Refugio del Burrito will legally prosecute the ones found guilty of such terrible act so they receive the rightful punishment. The charity will also make pressure so the Local Government of Extremadura enforces once and for all the existing Animal Protection Laws.

Last 31st of October the town of Torreorgaz woke up to terrible news: a female donkey owned by a woman in the village had been kicked to death by a group of teenagers. The youngsters gave the donkey such beating (which included kicks and a wooden stick inserted through the rectum) that the animal died a few hours later.

It seems the teenagers will only be charged with “damages” due to the fact that the post mortem indicates the animal died of a heart attack even when it is clear that the heart attack was produced by the cruelty suffered by the donkey.

The ones who committed such cruel act should pay for the damage inflicted, although it will never be enough. It is about time the Local Government of Extremadura assumes its responsibilities and enforces the Animal Protection Act that was approved back in 2002.

El Refugio del Burrito is coordinating through the social network Facebook all the pressure measures needed so that a murder like this does not go unpunished and the public administration do their part and enforce the corresponding laws.

“We invite everyone to join our cause so such horrible things don’t ever happen again” says Salvía.
