Animal welfare volunteers needed

Do you care about donkeys and mules? Do you have any practical experience with equines or are you keen to learn and have a little time to spare? We are looking for volunteers to be our ‘extra eyes’ by regularly following up welfare complaints, investigations as well as giving advice and support to many donkeys and mule owners. As you can imagine, trying to cover the whole of Spain takes a lot of manpower and so the more help we can get, the better life could for the donkeys and mules throughout the country.

To give you an idea of what is involved, here are the main areas we need help with:

• Visiting markets, fairs and festivals in your area – taking photos, reporting on any possible cruelty, abuse or illegal trading.
• Visiting possible welfare cases – sometimes we receive welfare complaints that are too far away for us to check in time. If the call is in your area we will contact you and ask you to gather basic information e.g. photos, situation of the donkey, possible owners etc.
• Check potential Loan Homes where people loan donkeys or mules as pets from us. Visit our Loan Homes three times a year to make sure everything if OK and give support and advice to Loan Carers.
