With a spoonful of sugar...

With a spoonful of sugar... Mary Poppins

She arrived to us when the wind changed... on a rather supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day. It was stormy, rainy and thundery all around, when our welfare officer and our driver collected our very own, and practically perfect, Mary Poppins from her former home in the mountains just behind Loja, in Granada.

Mary had always been a happy, cheerful donkey. She spent her days with her horse friend and was well looked after. Sadly, just recently her horse friend passed away and she began to feel lonely and depressed (donkeys create very strong bonds with their companions). Her former owner, loving her so much, and not being able to afford the purchase of a new companion for Mary, decided that the best option would be to let her go to a place where she would be well cared for and with plenty of other friends. It was then that she decided to get in touch with El Refugio del Burrito and relinquish her beloved Mary Poppins to us.

At El Refugio del Burrito, we will be dedicated to give lovely Mary her “spoonful of sugar” in the form of love and a whole host of amiable friends that will help her be her cheerful self again.

Mary did arrive with an umbrella (no talking or flying involved, though!) when the wind changed. But never mind if the wind changes again, we are hoping to home her for many years to come. And give her all the love and happiness she deserves.

Don’t miss the opportunity to meet her at her new home and spend a jolly holiday with Mary!

We invite you to visit and support us. You can make a difference to many donkeys like Mary, or others who are in worse situations all around Spain.
