El Refugio del Burrito Rescues Another Donkey Because of the Credit Crunch

Carlitos makes number seven in the list of donkeys rescued by Spanish Charity El Refugio del Burrito, as a direct consequence of the credit crunch in Spain.

Carlitos is a really cute donkey that has been recently rescued at Doña Rosa, in the Spanish Region of Extremadura.

His story has a lot to do with the financial crisis we are currently going through, and unfortunately, it is similar to the story of many other donkeys that are also being affected by these hard times.

Carlitos was born at his owner’s farm, the product of a mother and father that couldn’t be sterilized as the operations were expensive. When he was born, his owner did not know what to do with him, because he knew he couldn’t afford his feed. Carlitos was well kept while he was breast feeding, but as he grew older, his owner knew he would not be able to buy food for him, so he decided to sell him.
Carlitos was then taken to the fair, but being a stallion, nobody wanted him, and his owner couldn’t even get the 50 Euros he was asking for him. So his owner decided to bring him to our Farm in Extremadura, where he knew he would be safe and well cared for.

Carlitos is a bit of a cheeky donkey, as it should be when you’re only that young and he know enjoys playing around the fields with the minis or with his German friends at barn 2.

We are sure he will have the best of lives here and we are ever so glad to see him grow up happy and well cared for.
