Farm volunteers

Anna and Brian with Panchito

You can either volunteer on a regular basis, or stay with us for a set period of time. For the last choice, we usually ask our volunteers to stay a minimum of one week.

Work consists mainly of mucking out stables and feeding the animals, but there are also opportunities to groom or help the vets and farrier at work.

We are able to provide basic accommodation, providing we have sufficient notice. There are also some places to stay nearby in case you want to source your own accommodation. Transport will be provided by the volunteer, but we can arrange an airport pick up if necessary.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.

In September 2008 Brian and Anna Harrison from England spent two weeks here at El Refugio del Burrito as volunteers.

Pictured with them is Panchito who came from Calatayud in North East Spain.

Panchito was one of the very first donkeys to ever arrive at El Refugio del Burrito in 2004. His best friend is Trevosky and share what is called the "car park paddock". Both of them were working donkeys that were relinquished since their owners could no longer use them for work.
