Pequeña's Rescue
It was but a few days ago we went to a neighbouring village called Villanueva de Algaidas. to rescue a mule whose owner was very ill and could no longer take care of her.
The mule's name was Pequeña (little one in Spanish), even when she is a large, respectable lady of 32.
When we arrived where she was, we found a little stray dog beside her; he was undernourished and had no collar or any other identification.
Imagine our surprise when we got Pequeña in the trailer, and the little dog started acting nervously around it, running and jumping around the trailer and eventually following us when we drove off... he would not stop until we reached the village's limits, and it became clear that he did not want to part with his friend, so we got him on the trailer too, and he came to El Refugio with Pequeña.
It's clear for all to see that they have a truly special friendship, a unique bond. If you come over to our Sanctuary, you will be able to see them together at the quarentine area. Zorro (Fox), as we have named the dog, plays around Pequeña, warming her days with his lively attitude, and ver rarely leaves her side. We are glad that they are both here, and wish to see them together for many years to come.
If you wish to help mules like Pequeña, please do go on our online shop www.apadrinaunburrito.es where you can find gifts for your loved ones, or even adopt one of our donkeys... Please help us help them!
